Pre-vet students are initially assigned the animal science major. They must achieve and maintain a grade of B- or better in select animal science courses to be considered for the pre-vet program.
Students may enter the pre-vet program at any time after these requirements are met by submitting a required GPA worksheet to the appropriate advisor. To be competitive for admission into psychology, transfer applicants must have earned a C or better in statistics or pre-calculus. Admission to the Mark H. UMass Amherst offers the Exploratory Track Program in seven of the ten schools and colleges for first-year students to explore their academic options and interests before selecting a major. Students in an Exploratory Track work closely with academic advisors and receive guidance along the way, eventually matching them to a major based on their interest, eligibility, and academic proficiency.
