The temptation is to give up, but we hang on because we believe God has called us to something. There is no adventure when there are no risks. God said it is impossible to please Him without faith, and that He rewards those that come to Him Hebrews We have books like:.
Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, used to ask people if they have ever discovered the wonderful adventure of knowing God personally. I pray that each of us will be able to say that about our lives.
Yes, I know God personally and I listen to His voice. And, yes, I follow that voice in all of the crazy adventures. May you experience the wild, amazing ride of following God. I really enjoyed reading this today.
We too were called to give up our well paid teaching jobs and move over seas to the mission field in East Africa. Some people said we were nuts others were challenged. What have I done to cause this? What am I to learn from this experience? Lizzy loved life. She was a gifted violinist, a nature enthusiast, and a faithful friend. She believed that her Father in Heaven would heal her if she had faith.
With a broad smile and a bald head, she bravely told her curious friends about her cancer and said that Heavenly Father would help her get well. She cried very little, but instead placed love notes around the house for her family.
She loved a quote she found from Elder Dieter F. At Christmastime, while awaiting her own chemotherapy at the hospital, Lizzy played Christmas carols on her violin for the other children awaiting treatment. Doctors and nurses stopped to listen with tissues in hand.
Her peaceful music filled the cancer clinic with hope. On her last Sunday, as she lay almost lifeless in bed, the sun streamed through the window and bathed her small frame in light. Those gathered around her knew that they were in the presence of a noble spirit.
